What Sensations Are Normal?
– You may notice a slight color difference between the tooth and the ceramic inlay for a few days.
– The gum contour around the restored tooth may look unfamiliar at first.
– Temporary sensitivity to hot, cold, or pressure may occur — usually resolves within 1–2 weeks. Inform your doctor if it persists.
– A feeling of pressure or ‘newness’ when biting down is normal due to the new shape and micro-relief of the restoration. It should pass within 1–2 days. If not, contact your dentist for adjustment.
– Mild soreness from the anesthetic injection site or gum irritation from the rubber dam may occur. These sensations usually go away within 1–3 days.
What to Avoid
– Do not eat until the anesthetic wears off to avoid biting your cheek or tongue.
What to Do
– Use protective night guards if you have bite issues, tooth wear, or bruxism.
– Attend regular check-ups based on your individual treatment plan.
– Schedule professional dental cleanings regularly.
– Maintain thorough oral hygiene: brush at least twice daily (ideally after each meal) with a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and/or irrigator.
