What Sensations Are Normal?
– You may feel a sense of ‘newness’ or discomfort when your teeth close. This is normal and should disappear within 1–2 days.
– Mild soreness at the site of local anesthesia or from rubber dam placement may occur. This usually resolves within 1–3 days.
– Sensitivity to hot/cold or pressure may appear and typically goes away within 1–2 weeks. Inform your doctor if it persists.
– If the filling is close to the gum, you may experience sensitivity and slight gum redness for 10–14 days. Use toothpaste and rinses for sensitive teeth.
– Slight temporary color difference between the tooth and the filling may be visible for a few days.
When to Contact Your Dentist
– If the filling feels rough, or if sharp or overhanging edges are present near the gumline.
– If the filling feels too high, teeth don’t close properly, or your jaw hits the filling when moving.
– If there’s pain when biting or spontaneous toothache.
– If anything bothers you — please call us! We’ll find time to see you as soon as possible.
What to Avoid
– Do not eat until the anesthesia has worn off to avoid biting your cheek, lips, or tongue.

– Traditional restrictions like avoiding food for hours or staining foods for 24 hours no longer apply to modern materials.
What to Do

– Follow your individual plan for regular check-ups.
– Schedule professional cleanings every 6 months.
– Maintain excellent oral hygiene: brush at least twice a day with toothbrush, paste, and floss.
