Your Child Had a Lingual Frenulum Surgery – What You Should Know

In the First Day After Surgery

– If your child feels pain, give the pain reliever recommended by your dentist.
– Avoid any physical activity on the day of the procedure.
– The most important thing is keeping the area clean – use antiseptic mouth rinses as prescribed by the doctor.
– If your child is prone to allergies or swelling after injuries, an antihistamine may be recommended by your doctor in the appropriate dose.

Eating and Healing

– In the first few days, stick to a soft diet. Avoid hard foods (like bagels, crackers) and carbonated drinks.

Preventing Scar Tissue

– From day 2, start myofunctional exercises – for example, tongue-clicking games.
– Around days 5–7, it’s recommended to begin active speech therapy sessions with a specialist.

If You’re Unsure

– If you have any concerns about healing, please contact your clinic and treating doctor.
