What to Expect After Treatment
– Mild pain or discomfort when chewing may last from a few days up to 2 weeks. Take a painkiller if needed.
– Tenderness at the injection site or gum discomfort from the rubber dam may occur. These sensations usually go away within 1–3 days.
When to Contact Your Dentist
– If the temporary filling falls out, see your dentist the same day.
– A slight fever or swelling near the treated area is a normal reaction, but you should still contact your endodontist.
What to Avoid
– Do not eat until the numbness from anesthesia wears off to avoid biting your cheek or tongue.
– Avoid hard food for 1–2 hours if you received a temporary filling.
– Do not chew with the treated tooth until all discomfort has passed.

– The treated tooth becomes more fragile. Schedule a crown or inlay restoration without delay to prevent fractures.
